Women in Sri Lanka

Women are the main contributor to Sri Lankan Foreign Earnings. They are employed in the Middle East, mainly as domestic aides and in Tea and Apparel sectors in Sri Lanka.

But have they benefited? What do you think?

This picture taken in December 2007 is the wallpaper on my laptop screen.

Once at an interview a few years ago in assessing my general knowledge about the country and to see whather I was fit to carry the Sri Lankan tag to the world, I was asked by a sri lankan(nonetheless) what the main imports of SL were?
I answered "Tea, Coconut and Rubber" the fact we had learned fron kindergarten. Well he prompted me to think about my answer again. Still I was adamant. And the examiner finally said that "our main import is women(for labour)"!And it was important that we all remembered from where our Forex comes from...
